Making Dental Health Care Fun

Posted .

Helping your children to form healthy dental habits can sometimes be difficult. Making dental hygiene and dental health practices fun can make things easier for both you and your child. Our dentist in Allen, Texas, is happy to offer advice for making dental care fun for you and your child.

Education

There are books that encourage and teach healthy oral care habits in fun ways. Check out one of these books from your local library and read it with your child. Another way to educate your child in an exciting way is to show him or her a fun dental hygiene for kids video.

Stickers

Make a chart or a poster with your child with spaces for each day of the month. You can include pictures of teeth, toothbrushes, and other oral health pictures if you like. Give your child stickers to put on the poster each time they brush their teeth.

Dental Visit Treat

In addition to brushing and flossing, dental appointments are an important part of your child’s dental health. These visits should occur at least every six months. To reward your child and to make them more excited about going to the dentist, consider surprising your child after the appointment. Going to the park, buying him or her a healthy treat, or going to the library to check out a book are some fun rewards to consider.
