When to Pull Your Child’s Tooth

Posted .

You probably know that losing a tooth is something your children should eventually go through. In reality, children usually lose their first tooth when they’re about six years old. Still, do you ever wonder if you should pull your child’s tooth?

We usually recommend letting the tooth fall out naturally whenever possible. Once their tooth gets loose, we recommend teaching them to gently wiggle their tooth back and forth. However, please remember to show your child how to handle their tooth gently.
Still, it’s very important that you pull their teeth at the right time. For example, you may want to consider pulling the tooth if it’s very loose or if it is dangling from their mouth. However, you should not pull your child’s tooth if touching it hurts. Also, please don’t pull your child’s tooth if it isn’t very loose. If you decide to pull your child’s tooth, please remember to pull with a twisting motion. You should also grab the tooth with a clean cloth or with gauze.
